Raptors vs Pistons 25.Jan
There is no denial that the Raptors have been playing below the expectations during the last couple of weeks. To be exact they have had bad runs within the games, when they give away big leads or even worse dig themselves holes. Last time they played at home against the Pelicans they lost first half by 14 points, then turned it around to take 15 point lead … just to lose the game by 2 points. Against the 76ers in their last game Philadelphia got a 15-0 lead. Of course the Raptors erased that deficit by halftime and won the game. All that said, the Raptors are still a quality team that has 16-7 record at home and lineup filled with quality players. Slumps end and the Raptors want to end the current slide badly. In that sense, win against the 76ers was a good start and meeting the Pistons after they had clearly the worst night of their season, should be a perfect continuation.
Nevermind this surprising and bad loss against the Bucks last night. No one in the Pistons organisation is worried about that after seeing Brandon Jennings to go down with what it looked like a season ending achilles injury. Much of the Pistons recent success is because Jennings. He has been scoring with high field percentage, taking many shots, feeding Monroe and Drummond with alley-oops, leading fast breaks and handling the ball for most of the time in the Pistons possessions. Take that away and the Pistons are a clueless team, that will suffer again – and it showed last night. As the Pistons have to play back-to-back away game, there is also no time to make adjustments, so we expect to see a carry over effect from last night.
The Raptors have an home court advantage and they will meet the team that just lost their key player. If Jennings will be out for an extended period of time, the Pistons will adjust to it at some point. As of now, they will play in a state of shock and not having Jennings running their offense will hurt all players on court. Although the Raptors have been struggling, they have enough quality enough motivation and anger to end this slide. Take the Raptors -6.5 @1.826 from Pinnacle with 3/5 units.
