Title challengersThere is always pressure on the relegated sides. For Hull City, the hope is that Steve Bruce can work his magic again at this level. Hull’s manager has won three promotions from the Championship. Yet James Chester, Robbie Brady, Liam Rosenior, Paul McShane and Tom Ince have left, and Dame N’Doye is heading to Trabzonspor. The squad are solid but lacking in creativity and Bruce is desperate to keep Abel Hernández. Hull’s prospects will improve if Robert Snodgrass can be influential when he returns from the serious knee injury (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/aug/20/hull-robert-snodgrass-six-months-knee-injury) that has kept him out for a year.Perhaps there will be stronger challenges from elsewhere.Middlesbrough froze in their defeat in the play-off final (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/may/25/middlesbrough-norwich-championship-play-off-final-match-report) by Norwich City last season, yet the manager Aitor Karanka has done a commendable job and they arguably have the best player in the division after signing Stewart Downing from West Ham United (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jul/16/stewart-downing-returns-middlesbrough-west-ham). Downing’s presence should ensure that Lee Tomlin will not be missed – but will Middlesbrough cope without Patrick Bamford up front?
One team who should have no problem in attack are Ipswich Town. Daryl Murphy knocked in 27 goals last season and struck up a productive partnership with Freddie Sears during the run-in, and David McGoldrick is always a threat when fit. Jonathan Douglas is a good signing from Brentford and Mick McCarthy is an excellent Championship manager; play-off semi-finalists last season (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/may/16/norwich-city-ipswich-town-championship-playoff-semi-final-second-leg), no one will relish games against them.Derby County offer a different kind of test. They were capable of outstanding football under Steve McClaren, only to develop a reputation for choking, losing the play-off final to Queens Park Rangers two years ago (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/may/24/derby-county-qpr-championship-play-off-final-match-report) and imploding on the final day last season. A 3-0 defeat by Reading (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/may/02/derby-reading-championship-match-report) dictated that a side who were contenders for automatic promotion ended up finishing eighth. Such wastefulness means that many regard them as a soft touch and their new manager, Paul Clement, will have to rid them of the mental scars. Clement is an intriguing appointment (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jun/01/derby-county-appoint-paul-clement-head-coach). Carlo Ancelotti’s former No2 is clearly talented, but will his work with the world’s best players at Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid be relevant in the Championship in his first managerial job?Kenny Jackett certainly has more experience of the lower leagues than Clement. His Wolverhampton Wanderers side have lost the exciting Bakary Sako, but Benik Afobe and Nouha Dicko are a dangerous front two.

Anyone who fails to match Burnley’seffort will lose to them and Sean Dyche’s side should never be written off. Dyche has not taken long to prove that he is a highly capable manager who knows how to get the best out of a seemingly talented group of players and Burnley are guaranteed to be awkward, organised opponents.
Yet the right-back Kieran Trippier has gone to Tottenham (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jun/19/tottenham-sign-kieran-trippier-burnley) Hotspur, Danny Ings has joined Liverpool and Ashley Barnes is out with a serious knee injury. Dyche could have problems in attack if Jelle Vossen, who scored seven goals on loan at Middlesbrough last season, does not settle after his £2.5m move from Genk. He has signed two young strikers, Dan Agyei and Chris Long, but the onus is on Sam Vokes to replicate his prolific 2013‑14 form after cruciate ligament damage held him back last season.
B-teams will have hopes of making the play-offs. Birmingham have improved hugely under Gary Rowett and Bristol City could take some stopping under Steve Cotterill after they rampaged through League One. Blackburn Rovers have lost Rudy Gestede (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jul/31/aston-villa-jordan-veretout-nantes-five-year-deal) and need to hang on to Jordan Rhodes, but Gary Bowyer has made them tough to beat.
And pay close attention to Brentford after their decision to part company with Mark Warburton after he led them to the play-offs last season (http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/may/13/brentford-mark-warburton-wembley-championship). They have hired the unheralded Dutchman Marinus Dijkhuizen, and although the squad could be broken up, the stats-based model favoured by the owner, Matthew Benham, hasworked brilliantly at his other club, Midtjylland (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jul/27/how-fc-midtjylland-analytical-route-champions-league-brentford-matthew-benham), who are the Danish champions.Queens Park Rangers are hard to read. They could challenge, they could go down, they could float around harmlessly in mid-table. The past four years have been a shambles at Loftus Road – poor Tony Fernandes – and Chris Ramsey has his work cut out in his first full season as manager. Ramsey’s cause will not be helped by the likely departure of Charlie Austin.
Cardiff City, Charlton Athletic, Nottingham Forest andSheffield Wednesday are probably in for a season of mid-table respectability, not that the Championship (http://www.theguardian.com/football/championship) is a league that is kind on those tasked with trying to make sense of it.

Relegation contenders

And so we move on to grislier matters. It should be closer this year. The bottom three were a mess last season and the struggles of Blackpool, Millwall and Wigan Athletic meant that it was hard to make a proper assessment of the teams who stayed up. Complacency would be ill-advised.
MK Dons and Preston North End, managed by Karl Robinson and Simon Grayson respectively, could surprise a few people after winning promotion from League One but may easily be dragged into a relegation battle and will settle for a quiet season in the lower reaches of mid-table.
Brighton & Hove Albion have cheered up their disgruntled supporters by re-signing a former hero, Bobby Zamora, from QPR (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/aug/03/bobby-zamora-re-signs-for-brighton-after-leaving-qpr). Zamora scored 83 goals during his first spell with Brighton and Chris Hughton is banking on the striker to have a revitalising effect on a club who reached the play-offs in 2013 and 2014. His wily, battering-ram game will trouble defenders. Yet the fans who watched Zamora in his youth will have to remember he is 34 and his physical condition will have to be managed carefully. Brighton finished 20th last season.Reading were a place and three points above them and they had a weird campaign. Their league form was dismal but they took Arsenal to extra-time in their 2-1 defeat by Arsène Wenger’s side (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/apr/18/reading-arsenal-fa-cup-match-report) in the FA Cup semi-final. That demonstrated that they were capable of finishing higher and Steve Clarke will be seeking more consistency from his players. Stephen Quinn could be an astute signing from Hull.
Chris Powell’s Huddersfield Town ought to have enough to steer clear of trouble, but it could be another difficult season for Fulham. They did well to recover after making a terrible start under Felix Magath, who was swiftly replaced by Kit Symons (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/oct/29/kit-symons-fulham-manager-appointed), but were never entirely comfortable and finished 17th. Fulham will rely on the goals of Ross McCormack, but it is hard to see them making much of an impression.
Bolton Wanderers also flirted with disaster last season and Dougie Freedman was sacked in October and replaced by Neil Lennon (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/oct/17/neil-lennon-bolton-wanderers-celtic-europe). The former Celtic manager showed his qualities by inspiring a huge rise in form before Christmas, but they won only five league matches in 2015 and Lennon is working on a limited budget.
As for Leeds United, appointing Uwe Rösler (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/may/20/uwe-rosler-leeds-manager-massimo-cellino) is a step in the right direction, and Stuart Dallas is a clever signing from Brentford. But chaos is always lurking nearby at Elland Road and who knows what to expect (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/aug/08/maverick-owner-massimo-cellino-leeds-united-big-mess) from the club’s owner, Massimo Cellino?
Leeds’s near neighbours Rotherham United will struggle again, although it would be nice to see their manager, Steve Evans, triumphantly wearing a sombrero and beach shorts again.

Three players to watchDemarai Gray The Birmingham City winger is a local lad and the 19-year-old has caught the eye of several clubs. Birmingham rebuffed an approach from Bournemouth for him.
Chuba Akpom This is a big season for the young striker, who has joined Hull on loan from Arsenal (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/aug/04/chuba-akpom-arsenal-hull-season-long-loan). Akpom did not impress during a spell at Nottingham Forest last season.
Zach Clough The 20-year-old Bolton Wanderers striker demonstrated his potential in their FA Cup defeat by Liverpool (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/feb/04/bolton-wanderers-liverpool-fa-cup-match-report) last season and should continue to improve.

Rangers possible starting lineup:

PSG possible starting lineup:

Cavani.

Championship: Bristol City- Leeds

Last round Leeds took the lead quite late, but conceded an equaliser even later and that has set the tempo for all their games under Rosler so far, also drawing at Reading on Sunday and in a Yorkshire derby at Doncaster Rovers in the Capital One Cup last midweek, where they had to play much of the game with ten men. The match against the Royals was a turgid affair with very few chances and it had a 0-0 look from about the 10th minute onwards, Rosler has his teams well organised and prepared, but is far too negative at times, especially on the road, when drawing or holding a narrow lead, for my liking. However, his team's are very hard to break down and getting a handicap start against newly promoted City, who are pointless so far and under quite a bit of pressure to get at least a point tonight, looks the way to go. I saw the Robins on Saturday, in their 4-2 home defeat to Brentford, City were 2-1 up and had missed good chances to extend that lead, before the match turned on the sending off of Luke Freeman. From that moment on (35th minute), it was all Bees and the away win never looked in doubt. Brentford are very confident with their passing game and the wide open spaces of Ashton Gate (which looks bigger as there are only three sides to the stadium at present) played to their strengths, which meant that for much of the next hour + , City had to work incredibly hard and at times where chasing shadows and the quick turnaround when many players are still coming to terms with life at the higher level, is a big ask on the back of that.

They will be without Freeman tonight, he played in central midfield, right at the heart of what was a 3-5-2 and the catalyst of so much of what they did offensively, he was on Saturday (after his departure) and will be today, a very big loss, Freeman was ever present last season, contributing seven goals and 18 assists and for many, was the stand out performer in League 1. City know they are a couple of players short of being competitive in the Championship and made what looked like a bit of a panic bid yesterday of £9m for Andre Gray of the Bees, they have a wealthy owner, but in terms of FFP, this is a signing they cannot really afford (as I type it has still not been completed). Anyway, we will discuss Gray in the future, for now, suffice to say that City are still coming to grips with life at this level, need to strengthen and are without perhaps their best player today. United have won the last six h2h meetings with City ,have scored eight (two or more in each) in their last three visits to Bristol and look good for at least a point and I don't feel that the hosts would be too disappointed with that. We are at a very early stage of the season, but almost 52% of games in the Championship have ended all square, many teams look evenly matched and there is a lot of jostling for position, especially in the transfer market and for now, games in general might continue to be hard to win. Things will probably return to "normal" after the transfer window has closed.

Kidderminster - Southport 1 (-0,5AH quota 2,00) Bet365 ore 16:00 stake 5/10

England Championship Rotherham - Reading

Neil Redfearn has a big task to try and keep the Millers in the Championship, I saw his debut as boss at the weekend , a 2-1 feat at Griffin Park to the mighty Bees and on this occasion the league table doesn't lie and they are the weakest tean I have seen in the second tier this season and by quite some way. Previous bos Steve Evans has always had a revolving door policy of players at the club and another huge number of summer signings means a lack of cohesion (second fewest competed passes in the division) and no real planning, bringing in 15-16 players every off season is so very hit and miss and whilst it worked in L2 and L1, it didn't last season in the Championship and United were fortunate to survive, Evans said he would do things differently this time round, but like a teenager addicted to Ebay, he could not resist the lure and was busy oiling those revolving doors almost as soon as the 2014-15 campiagn ended !

So a lot of work for Redfearn to do and what he could really do with is some time and the matches are coming too thick and fast for that, he could also do without a lengthy injury list, which has meant he had to dip into the loan market yesterday and bring yet another player into the club and on top of everything else, the Millers have their biggest game of the season in three days time, when huge local rivals Sheffield Wednesday, who one United fan told me on Saturday that "they are the only club we really hate", visit the New York Stadium for a televised fixture. As a born and bred Yorkshireman, Redfearn will know all about that and as a club, United will have one eye on that fixture.

Latest injury for them came to left back Joe Mattock who left the field late on Saturday, he was one of their more impressive defenders and although the Millers have been conceding at the rate of almost two per game, they have given up "just" 1.25 pg in the eight he has started, 3.67 in the three he has sat out. Reading are strong on the flanks, tight defensively (no team has conceded fewer goals) and will almost certainly stay in the automatic promotion places with all three points. Steve Clarke has used the off season well and has got the Royals so much better organised this season and can use his bigger and much less injury hit squad to good advantage in this quick turnaround.

England Championship Derby County - QPR

I was not terribly impressed by Rangers on Friday night, they did hit the woodwork twice, but neither attempt look like it was going in, a bit of a looping head dipped at the last moment and caught the top of the bar, a shot that looked to be going wide just clipped the outside of the post, at least that is how I saw things through my rose tinted ( red and white ?) glasses ! Those aside, they created nothing at all, their build up play was poor and to be honest, a little clueless at times with no game plan and very little passion. I do not like highlighting coaches in trouble, but have now done it twice in this email and if Chris Ramsey is still in charge at Christmas, he will have done well and I will be surprised. The amazing thing is that QPR are the third worst passing team in the Championship, it is incredble as they play so many aimless sideways balls, so my instinct would be that those stats should be "good" and that they are bad, has got a lot of alarm bells ringing in my head !. Defender Clint Hill was one of the few to show any passion, but even as he left the field limping with a knock, I heard one wag say "that was the fastest he had moved all night", he is missing tonight and there are very few positives in this team right now. Rangers have conceded 13 goals in the last six matches Hill has sat out, including six in the last two on the road and this match has the potential to get ugly !

We have spoken a lot about County this month and notes from their last home start, a 4-2 defeat of Woverhampton Wanderers, are reproduced under the "good luck" sign off. After that game I wrote "that they looked very good at times, but I would argue nowhere near their peak and it is a little scary to think of the offensive threat they pose and the damage they could and will cause, once they really hit their stride."

Derby won last round 3-0 and it could easily have been five or six goals and afterwards boss Paul Clement said:"I am learning about my players all the time. "They are showing so many different qualities now, whether it be the team spirit or dealing with different styles of football."The momentum is really building and we are enjoying the way we are playing and we are full of confidence.

They will be without George Thorne tonight after he picked up a fifth yellow card, but this is a very strong squad, highlighted by Bryson, Hendrick and Bent coming off the bench at the weekend and you would struggle to find another second tier team for whom that trio would not all start. If Rangers play like they did on Friday and judging by comments on their forums that was a typical recent performance and County play even close to their usual standard, the visitors "cannot" win this. To get a result, they need to greatly improve and County have an off night and it is hard to see either happening right now.

Reds boss Dougie Freedman is seeing his injury list shorten but he still remains without Kyle Ebecilio (hamstring), Andy Reid (groin), Chris Cohen (knee), Matty Fryatt (pelvis) and Britt Assombalonga (knee).

Championship: Ipswich Town - Middlesbrough

Big game for both , Town can move into the play off places, at least for 24 hours with a point and Boro would go top, with all three.

Ipswich are in their best form of the season, are unbeaten in six, scoring 12 goals in their last four (three wins) and are very tough to beat on home soil, 3-5-1 this season and they collected a Championship high 50 points here last season, which included a 2-0 defeat of Middlesbrough, infact, Boro have lost on their last three visits, all by 2+ goals and have not posted a win at portman Road in more than 20 years. The Tractor Boys have drawn too many games here this season, but only Burnley have won and a point in this fixture is almost always seen as one earned and not two lost by Championship clubs. Boro are well aware of how tough this will be and doubly so as they played a Capital One Cup game with Everton in midweek, they rotated quite heavily for that, but eight players featured in both the cup tie and the win at Huddersfield last weekend and a third really taxing game inside seven days is going to be a big ask for some and I really do not see why Boro should be favourites to win this. I have already seen Ipswich at Griffin Park this season, they were big, strong, well organised, exactly how they and any team managed by Mick McCarthy always are and despite that being the opening day of the season, it was already fairly clear that they would again be in and around the playoffs. However, as I mentioned earlier this week, it is going to be tough for any of the teams outside the top five to break into that elite group and if clubs do not simply want to be playing for one remaining post season place, they can afford few slip ups and have to make the most of home games against teams above them in the table and that makes this game hugely important for Town. Boro are a bit physical on the road, but those tactics will not work against Ipswich and I have to side with the hosts, with the draw no bet safeguard.

Ipswich Town level ball 2.02 asian line/Sportmarket.

There is one major concern and that is David Nugent is now a Boro player following his move from Leicester City in the summer and he simply loves to play against Town, with a whopping 14 goals in his last 13 matches against them for City, Preston and Portsmouth (remember them ?) , if that was not impressive enough, he has scored in a perfect 7/7 visits tp Portman Road, nine goals in total and no prizes for guessing that he nominates it as his favourite away ground. He was one of those rested in midweek and if Boro are to score this evening, the goal(s) seems as likely to come via him as anyone else

Daryl Murphy has six goals in his last three league games for Ipswich, after failing to score in his first 13 and you know that I love a striker in form, he was top Championship scorer last season with 27 goals, six more than anyone else, including the opener in this fixture last season and his earlier drought was simply a blip and recent Town opponents are paying the price.

Nugent and Murphy are both circa 2.80-3.10 general quote in the anytime goalscorer markets and both are probably a little on the big side at the upper end given those stats, especially Murphy, who is the focus of so much of what Town do offensively and he has averaged far better than a goal every two games for the last 16 months, despite a 13 match fry spell, which is incredible (0.67 goals per game otherwise).

Taking either would be fine, but Town will be looking for Murphy at every opportunity and if you can find 2.875-3.10 I would suggest 1 unit....there is 3.30 on Betfair sportsbook btw.

England Championship: Reading vs Blackburn Rovers

Reading have lost their way and have only beaten basement club Bolton in their last ten starts and have really struggled to hold onto leads in that sequence. Rovers are on an unbetaen run of eight and have only conceded once in four away starts and not at all in closing in on 300 minutes and not lost to the Royals in 11 league meetings. The visitors are suddenly very well organised under Paul Lambert and could move to within three points of the playoffs with the win this afternoon. Hosts have a new manager to impress in Brian McDermott, but he has only had a couple of days with the squad and he has some big defensive issues with Andrew Taylor , Anton Ferdinand and Chris Gunter major doubts, Gunter is the only recognised right back and a midfielder will probably drop back if he misses out, his eye injury was bad and required a lot of stitches. Seems sure that the Royals will have players out of position, or a very young backline against a well organised team in good form, with a potent Championship striker in Jordan Rhodes. McDermott will also probably not be able to play his preferred formation either and I think he is going to need time to turn this group around.

England Championship: Brentford vs Brighton

Not going to spend too long on this, we have discussed the Bees more than any other team in the last three years and most of you know more about them than any club apart from your own. Last week ahead of a home game with Huddersfield Town my notes included ........

"That ended 2-2, Bees led, gifted Fulham an equaliser with a real howler of an own goal from James Tarkowski and were wrongly denied a winner from Jota for offside . In midweek, they went to Cardiff City and lost 3-2, they started very sluggishly, which was always going to be a bit of a concern after the big derby game and were two down at the break, but came on strong in the second period and especially with the introduction of Jota and Josh McEachran and a team leading showing from captain Alan Judge, which got them back on level terms and there was only one winner from that stage and the Bees were well on top, only to lose deep in injury time following another defensive error. Not too much to worry about, they should have scored five against Dons, three at Fulham and got two at Cardiff, they have a VERY strong bench now and goals are really going to start flowing soon. Central defender Harlee Dean will be available following suspension today and Maxime Colin will should come in at right back after a long term injury and both should help steady the Bees defensively. Jota must be close to a full start now and surely we will get an hour from McEachran who was hugely impressive from the bench in midweek. "

No start from Jota, but he got another outing from the bench, as did McEachran, Colin and Dean both started and the backline looked far more solid , despite conceding twice (one was down to a player slipping when there was no danger and the game already won). Very promising, but they will be tested fully today by Brighton, who finally lost their unbeaten record last weekend. However, the visitors suddenly look vulnerable, have conceded two or more in their last four starts, including at home to a struggling Charlton and with the Bees so full of goals, four last week should have been six and the 13 they have scored in their last six starts ( 2+ in five), could easily, no, should have been 20, it is hard not to see some offensive joy today for the hosts. Bees scored four in the two h2h games last season, both of which they won and can thrill a sold out Griffin Park in this early kick off. I think they might win and could really be facing the Seagulls at the right time and there is a big rivalry between the two club owners, who were formerly friends, so the players know what it means to Matthew Benham, but I feel the best value by far is ............

Brentford to score two or more goals 2.30-2.375 general quote.

Solitamente in queste leghe,fattore determinante.

Hal Robson-Kanu will be missing for Reading after picking up an Achilles knock against Fulham.
Boss Brian McDermott hopes the Wales winger, who scored both Royals' goals in the 2-2 draw, will be fit to face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup on Friday.
McDermott will rest other players in preparation for the quarter-final but could welcome back striker Matej Vydra after a hamstring injury.
Captain Paul McShane will be assessed after he missed out through injury against Fulham.

Championship: Nottingham Forest - Brighton

Nottingham Forest are in freefall and were absolutely dire in their last home start, a 3-0 loss to Brentford, both teams were nervous there early, but the home crowd was offering almost no support and both fans and players were pretty much waiting to concede ! Once the mighty, mighty Bees took the lead, already brittle Forest confidence crumbled and they were never going to launch a come back, or but up much resistance. They have taken just 4 points from a possible 30 since early February when they were in 10th spot and now sit in 20th, just nine points ahead of the drop zone, without a permanent head coach and giving thanks to the footballing gods that the bottom three in the Championship are so poor !

Brighton won 2-1 last round and stayed very focused after conceding early, they are now 12 clear of 7th placed Cardiff City, with this game in hand, that is pretty much guaranteed top 6 now , as the Bluebirds only have five left to play ( and one is at Griffin Park !), so it will be all about three points for Brighton with nothing to lose and everything to gain by gambling. They are five points adrift of leaders Burnley with a GIH and four behind Middlesbrough, whom they have still to play, so a huge chance of automatic promotion if they win this evening, but things will be very difficult if they come up short. Brighton entertain Fulham on Friday night and by winning both, they will really be cranking up the pressure, especially on Burnley, who do not play again until Saturday.

Chris Hughton's team were very professional at St Andrews and were worthy of a bigger margin of victory and the signing of Jiri Skalak in the transfer window looks very good business indeed and might be what gets them over the line, he delivers a peach of a dead ball and now that he is getting up to speed with the Championship (which is never easy) he is producing and has three assists in his last two outings and four in just 293 minutes of second tier football. If Forest play like they did against the Bees and in losing 2-1 to Reading subsequently ( it should have been 4-1) this can only end one way and the hosts need to seriously up their game to get anything out of tonight, but runs like this are incredibly hard to address and are self-perpetuating .

England Championship: Charlton- Brighton

Briefly, hosts are now booked for League 1 and that has looked on the cards for months. Brighton are pressing hard for an automatic promotion spot and could hardly be in better form, with four straight wins, with a 13-2 goal difference and it is very noteworthy that the goals have increased along with the pressure on them to keep winning, which indicates great mental strength. Burnley went top with their three points last night, but Brighton can move level with the win today and they will have the three points and only that in mind this afternoon. Bonus is that if they win today and again at home next weekend, it means they will travel to Middlesbrough on the final day of the season with their fate in their own hands. Supporters have already bought up their full ticket allocation for that game, the final home match is a sell out and they ticket allocation for today sold out weeks ago, but many others will be in the home ends I assume and they will have huge support at the Valley today, when most home fans will only be going to protest against the board/owner.

Brighton are on a good run and can add another London scalp this afternoon. Actually a five goal win would take them above the Clarets and that is probably not as far fetched as it sounds. Anyway, I have seen Charlton three times this season and they started all three games quite strongly and that is borne out by them having a -1 goal difference in the opening 30 mins, this quickly falls to -9 (3-12) in the 15 minutes before the break, which is when they almost always lose control of games at the Valley and there is a good chance we will see more of the same today. Brighton's first goal in their last four games (all wins) have come in the 29-27-29-45th minutes and that mirrors the period when the Addicks are most vulnerable.

Brighton -1 ball as soon as the "in running" line hits 2.05 (currently 1.80) as long as they are not already leading and we are playing 11v 11

Forest Green - Halifax X2 @1,90 Stake 2/10

Dartford - Oxford City 1
Margate - Hemel 2
Wealdstone - St. Albans X2
@2,61 Stake 1,5/10

Plymouth - Dagenham & Red. 1
Accrington - York 1
@1,78 Stake 4/10

Middlesbrough - Ipswich 1
Charlton - Brighton 2
@1,94 Stake 5/10

England Championship: Bristol City - Huddersfield Town

Last home game of the campaign for City and I expect them to really be going for this and to put on a big offensive show for their supporters. Their last two home games have both produced five goals and if they can score six against top six teams in Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County they can certainly run in at least 2-3 against Town in what is basically a friendly. The hosts are now safe and new head coach Lee Johnson has won the fans over (there was a lot of opposition to his appointment) and taken them comfortably away from the drop zone and, at times in the last couple of months, they have looked unplayable, but rarely for the full 90 minutes ! Johnson is an offensive minded coach and I am 100% sure he will be looking to win the final home game in entertaining style, City home starts have produced 64 goals (2.91 pg) and only Fulham watchers have seen more this season.

Town are certainly a team who like to play on the front foot too and that is where all their talent lies, they have scored 58 goals this season and only two teams outside the top six (one is Brentford ....of course !) have scored more. They have scored a Championship high 21 goals in the final 15 minutes of games and conceded 19 ( only basement club Bolton have allowed more) through the same period.

Early or late, goals will surely come today, but if you are following "in running" you could definitely look at goal lines in the final quarter, "officially" I will stick with ..........

Championship Playoff: Hull City - Derby County

I was with Derby in the first leg and they played terribly, losing 3-0. Goals change games and County looked the better team for the first 20 minutes, but conceded against the run of play ( goalkeeper will be disappointed) and that was a momentum changer, City grew in confidence and a few minutes later scored a second with a twice deflected shot. That left the Rams feeling sorry for themselves, unable to find a way back and City running the show.

Second leg semi finals have tended to be open games and the last six seasons have seen all twelve games produced a minimum two goals , with ten going "over" and averaging 3.83 goals , four of the last five years have seen the two games total exactly seven goals and after the 1-1 draw last night at Brighton, this "should " produce five goals and that would not totally surprise. Away teams have scored in 10 of 12 ( 11 of 13 after last night) and the home side have scored three or more in seven. Last three teams to win the away first leg have gone on to win the home tie by at least three goals and I guess that County could collapse and "give up" if they conceded first, but you would expect the visitors to at least look to restore some pride and the away supporters are not going to accept any lack of effort this evening. The County players have had to (quite rightly) deal with a lot of local and media accusations of a lack of character in the aftermath of Saturday's debacle and have attempted to defend themselves, no one on the terraces or at boardroom level is going to accept less than 100% commitment tonight and if they lose again, they will have to go down fighting and committed to the cause, or they will be torn apart post match. One goal at either end will surely see this get very stretched. An away win would not surprise, especially as City can lose by two and progress, but I will go with ..........
